Lowering the throttle cable mount

When you're building a digger style bike, or even a conventional bike sometimes, the backbone of the frame can have a tendency to get in the way of the throttle linkage, Especially when you're building a four cylinder with the carb cables coming up the center of the carb rack..

Below I've show the way I solve this most of the time by simply bending the cable holder to conform to the back bone angle. I used to just take the bracket off and and section it as I needed and weld it back in place. But, by doing the bending, it seems to be more natural, or factory, looking, Plus it's a bit less time consuming. There's nothing wrong with cutting a piece out and re-welding though.. I've done it that way a few times.

Once I get it to this point, I usually remove the bracket and trim off the holder for the second cable and then either paint it or chrome it. The first picture below is the stock cable position and the second is of it bent to the necessary angle and the last two are just different angles of it to show you how it looks..

When you bend it, always support the bracket with a second tool like a crescent wrench, so you get good bends and don't have as much chance to break it off. No special tools really. Just what you have in your tool box... crescent wrench, pliers and a vice. I always do it with the cable in place so the slot doesn't collapse
